Abstract

This study consisted of developing and evaluating a new biomimetic cream with vitamins, hyaluronic acid and active phytocomplexes from different plants, such as Centaurea cyanus, Aloe barbadensis, Achillea millefolium and Spilanthes acmella. Efficiency of the new formulated products was demonstrated by testing the hydration degree of human subjects’ skin. Material and methods: It were developed a lipophilic cream with a 64% hydrophilic phase and 36% lipophilic phase and a new type of lipophilic emulsifier. The physico-chemical properties (appearance, pH), technological parameters (consistency, spread ability and rheology) and in vivo moisturizing effect were evaluated. Results: The proposed moisturizer cream presented a pleasant texture and a pH of 7.1. From the rheological behavior, it can be seen that the product can be easily applied to the skin and in terms of effectiveness the results are excellent. After a single application on dry skin, the proposed formulation can improve by 80% the degree of hydration. Conclusions: The developed water/oil biomimetic formulation, which has a pH compatible with the skin, is easy-to-apply and have a very good tolerance on dry skin with immediate hydration.
